Module Objectives
By the end of this module, participants will:
- Understand trauma and PTSD, including how they impact thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
- Differentiate PTSD symptoms from normal stress responses and identify key features of Complex PTSD.
- Recognize therapeutic tools rooted in the Quran and Sunnah for managing trauma and promoting emotional healing.
- Learn practical strategies for addressing intrusive thoughts, emotional triggers, and behavioural avoidance.
- Gain tools to rebuild purpose and meaning in life through Islamic teachings and evidence-based therapeutic practices.
Module Description
This module integrates modern Cognitive Therapy for PTSD with therapeutic tools found in the Quran and Sunnah to provide a holistic approach to healing trauma. Participants will learn to identify and manage PTSD symptoms such as flashbacks, avoidance, and emotional overwhelm while exploring how Islamic principles support emotional and psychological well-being.
The course emphasizes tools such as reflection (tafakkur), structured journaling, and the therapeutic use of Quranic verses and prophetic teachings. By combining these approaches with evidence-based interventions, attendees will discover effective methods for healing themselves and supporting others in their trauma recovery journey.
This module is designed for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including therapists, caregivers, educators, and community members, with or without prior knowledge of trauma therapy.
